I was driving along highway 198 in California's Central Valley, when I came across a stretch of road with extremely dense fog. The visibility was bad enough that I couldn’t see more than a few yards ahead of me. I exited the highway thinking that there might be a potential image to be made. Indeed: the sun was just rising and burning through some of the thick fog in its path. I loaded a roll of Portra into my Mamiya 7 and mounted it onto a tripod. I waited a few minutes until the sun illuminated the palm trees in the foreground, and then I hit the shutter.
