Lars Just (b. 1980) is a visual artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
His inspiration as a photographer comes from his natural born curiosity for people's stories, along with an artistic and historical fascination of the world and the dynamics that set it in motion.
Just graduated as a photojournalist from The Danish School of Media and Journalism in 2014, and worked at the Danish daily Politiken as part of his education.
Just's clients include Politiken, Novozymes, Architema Architects and the SOS Children's Villages. Besides documentary photography, he works with magazines, news organizations, commercial photography and long-term personal projects.
Just's awards include a PDN Photo Annual, two nominations for the Visual Kravling Prize and a CPOY Portfolio Award.
Haimi was the first child I photographed in a Children's Village in Laos. Haimi lost her parents to unexploded ordnance. When she first arrived, she cried every day. But after a few months, she grew to love her new family. As her foster mother tucked her in under a sky-blue blanket, Haimi looked up at me and smiled. She liked me, and blushed every time I looked at her. Haimi wants to become a dancer when she grows up.
